Forum Help-Posting Photos

Some people are having trouble adding photographs to their posts so here is a quick run through how to do it...
Firstly make sure your images are not too large. If you get a message saying "failed security check" when you try to upload them then they are too large. Most cameras take images in several megapixels (thousands of pixels) which is way too big for forum purposes. Ideally the images should be between 600 to 800 pixels wide. Large images fill up the disc space on the site and are slow to load. Very large images will be rejected by the forum software. So when you take your images use a smaller "megapixel" setting on your camera/phone, one megapixel or smaller is ideal. For example, an image that is 640x480 pixels wide and therefore a good size for the forum is only 0.3 megapixels! Alternatively you can take big photos but then use some software on your computer to shrink the images before you add them to the forum. Most image editing software will do this (e.g. Paintshop Pro).
There are two ways of adding photographs. The first way is to add them as an attachment, the second is to upload them to some webspace (e.g. Photobucket, Flickr, your personal webspace etc) then post a link in the text. Posting as a link in the text is more versatile as you can put it anywhere in your post and carry on typing after it. Adding images as "attachments" means they are all put at the end of your report and you will not see them until you press "POST".
Adding Images as Attachments
Ok so you have written your post and want to attach some photos at the bottom. Click on "attachments and other options" which is below the main text box...
A box will open up beneath with a button next to it called "browse". Click on "browse".
If you are using a phone then you should see some folder options pop up and there will be one called "Album" or "Gallery" or something similar depending on the make of your phone. If you look in there you should be able to find your image and click on it to upload it.
If you are using a computer then a box will open up where you can navigate to the location of your photo and click on it (Windows Explorer). Click on the photo you want to attach (to highlight it) then click on "Open" to upload it.
If you want to add more photos then click on "more attachments" and extra boxes will appear. Repeat the previous step to add your other photos to the other boxes. You can only add one photo per box.
You will not be able to see your images in the draft post or in a "preview". You will only be able to see them after you have clicked on "post" then the system will upload them all in one go and add them to the bottom of your post.
Adding Images Within the Text
To do this your images need to be saved somewhere on the Internet. This could be a photo-hosting site like Photobucket or Flickr, or it could be on your personal webspace if you have some. Wherever you have saved them the method will be the same, I have used Photobucket in this example. Do not do this with images saved on Facebook as only people who are on Facebook will be able to see them.
Click on the image button which is just above the text box where your post is. This will add a line to your post which says "(img)(/img)"
Open up Photobucket and find the image you want to add. Copy the web address from the top bar or alternatively click on the link next to "Direct" at the right hand side (this will copy the link).
Then paste this link between the two "(img)" commands. It should look something like this "(img)YourImage(/img)"
An alternative way to do this is to paste the link into your report, then highlight it, then press the image button and it should put the img commands around it.
If you click on Preview or Post you should be able to see your image within the text.
