As you all know we don't shore fish seriously, but there was a time some years ago we thought we might. I bought a 14ft Penn beachcaster and a old Penn 525 made in the USA. I bought Lynn a 12ft rod and a Diawa Millionaire multi. We took lessons, but we were total pants at casting. So now we use shorter rods and Shimano F/S reels. (Lynn is still pants at casting). We both use multis on the boats however.

I know we don't really count in the vote Reg, but I thought I would share anyway.

PS Why can't they design a multiplier reel that doesn't involve turning your rod upside down?? We have never understood that!
.
cant really give a good answer to this one Mark sorry.
all ill say is lynn @ yourself are SAR members,so yous have every right to have your say aswell as vote in anything {as yous do},ie fish of the month, which yous do.
so as our {special members},i will just say thankyou for reply.
but wont add a vote for you.no disrespect.
re,multiplier.surely you can use a level wind reel both ways.{dont know as i DONT fish off the boats.

You can't use a level wind with the rod the right way up, unless you could wind the reel backwards.
