boat fishing sapphire sunderland
« on: July 05, 2017, 09:03:46 AM »
springer and myself had booked up to go on the sapphire tuesday evening trip 5pm 9pm trip, we got down there for around 4.15 the northeastern pulled up at the dock the lads had been out on a 5 hr trip very little to show.
the sapphire docked just before 5pm most of the lads had nowt , we headed out 9 rods on board noticed not one person fishing on the rat house, headed south onto hard ground to find some mackie total nowt
sea conditions and the rain did not help, the skipper moved around to try and locate fish nothing then one of the lads landed a nice cod around 3lb .
we then head out to a wreck that has given up good fish in the past again nothing 5 passes over the wreck nowt.
with the rain and the roll on the deck it was hard going just to stand and try to fish.
the skipper did try his best all over trying to land some fish on the deck, at the end of the day only very few small fish landed no mackie, I did notice that all fish landed on the starboard side of the boat nothing on the port side. ???
springer and myself never even had one bite in the 4 hr session   and we had all types of bait
we did intend to go out next tuesday on a 12noon 5pm trip but after last nights session we have cancelled give boat fishing a miss for some time. .goodbye.

nightmare mate even the macky are hiding as soon as they hear the boat engine coming at the minute mate it seems.
I hope Mark has some fish to report from todays jfk trip.
seems like those big trawlers that were out there over the spring must have cleaned the sea out totally.

dont know reg there was only two lads that landed some fish the weather was not the best it rained most of the 4 hr trip so pleased we had good waterproofs on.
called in to see springer this morning and his right leg was very swollen due to standing around and trying to keep his balance  on a rolling deck.
for those who dont know paul had an motor cycle accident few years back and he has a steel plate fitted into the bone in his right lower leg. standing around or walking gives the lad a few problems but he never complains and likes his fishing  .cool.

paul contacted alans son about evening trips on the JFK2 as he puts them on face book and I am not on face book, a 4hr or 5 hr trip is enough for paul and myself.
we hope to get out soon just this weather needs to pick up
